It's been a while since I updated this blog. Heath issues, spending tons of time at the torch and little time photographing things are my excuses. I will try to get some new things listed soon.

In the meantime, for all those people who live in my area- I will be at the Kimberly Neighborhood Market the first Thursday of every month through October. It starts at 6 pm and goes til dusk. I will also be attending Kimberly Good Neighbor Day, so please stop by and say hi.

When September gets here, you can look for me at Thousand Springs. Now that is a fun event! Gorgeous scenery, and amazing artists.

Harvest Time Festival

Well, the Harvest Time Festival is over for another year. As usual it was a fun show to attend. I must admit that I'm pooped out, and thankful to be home this evening! Thank you all of the customers who stopped at my booth. You are so appreciated! I must give a shout out to my sweet husband who sat at the booth with me all three days- so sweetly telling everyone what I did, and bragging on me. He's truly a sweetheart. Thanks also go out to my great kids who helped set up and take down everything. They also took care of things at home so I could do the show. I am so blessed with a wonderful family!

Thousand Springs Art Fesival

This weekend is the Thousand Springs Art Festival on Ritter Island. I set up my booth earlier today, and wow, it's a beautiful place. I especially love the waterfalls. So if you are in my area, I hope you'll stop by. The festival will include some awesome art, wonderful music, displays, and good food. It's open Saturday Sept. 25 10-6, and Sunday Sept. 26 10-5. Hope to see you there!

Time keeps marching on....

Wow, summer has gone by super fast! It seems like we waited forever for it to finally warm up, and now here we are near the end of August. I'm busily making new beads, and getting ready for the Thousand Springs Festival next month.

I love sitting at the torch, and figuring out new techniques, or even finding something wonderful totally by accident! Having my bead room has made such a difference in my beadmaking. It's so nice to be able to pop in there whenever I have the urge to play with glass. Even if I only have a little while, I can sit right down and get started.

I love it! If one of my kids is looking for me, they know to check "Mom's Bead Room." It's turned out to be a good spot for the kids to come and just visit with me too. Sometimes I'm on the torch, and one of the girls will come and watch for a while. When I'm working on assembling my glass creations at my table, often someone will come and chat while I work. Oddly enough, "Mom's Bead Room" has also become a place to share the good news of the day, the worries of a teenage heart, and just some good mother/daughter time.

What a busy weekend this has been so far. It's our 51st annual Art in the Park. I had fun making lots of new things. Skeleton Key beads have been very popular- especially those that have sliding beads. Thank you to all the great folks who have stopped by my booth. I especially want to shout out to the 3 little girls who visited with me yesterday. They had a fabulous time checking out all of the beads. Finally, one of them said, "You are really talented!" Sweet, huh?

I've made so many beads in the last few weeks, I am even dreaming about beadmaking! Even though it's been hectic, there is nothing like working with my torch, and molten glass. I love it!!

The sun is shining, birds are singing, and the world is turning green! I love spring. The very best thing about today though, is that I have a kiln full of goodies right this minute! I'm afraid the last few months have been a bit bare as far as adding new things to my blog. I've had a difficult time getting/staying healthy so had to put beadmaking on hold for a bit. But I'm back!!

I can't wait for the kiln to cool so I can hold my beadies in my hot little hands. I will be listing new things soon. Nothing makes a flameworker feel better than sitting in front of her torch, and melting glass. Seriously, it's therapeutic!

I LOVE having my new studio in the house!!!! It is truly awesome to be able to run in there and make beads whenever I want. I can make a couple and then go back to housework. Or I can stay in there for hours creating. It's wonderful!

I need to apologize that it's been awhile since I've listed anything new. In fact, my last post is January 3rd. That's because I got sick the very next day, and just didn't get any better. After trying several antibiotics with no results, my doctors told me I had an antibiotic resistant bacterial infection. Try saying that fast five times!

Needless to say, it's not been a very fun seven weeks. I have never been this sick my entire life. I think that's quite a statement considering I do have several health issues- one being multiple sclerosis. I am finally on the upswing, thanks to diligent doctors who found a medication that works. I'm recovering, although a bit slower than I'd like.

I need a bit more recovery time, and then hope to be adding more goodies to my blog. At the moment, just being awake wears me out! Right now I'm going through glass withdrawal, and can't wait to get back to the torch. Some fun things that I will be adding shortly are sterling silver cored beads for Pandora, Troll, Biagi, or Chamilia bracelets. I've also started making some awesome things in copper. I hope you will check back to see what's been added!

A New Year Begins

Can you believe that it is already 2010? Here we are three days into the new year. Time seems to be flying by. Well, mostly. I'm excited to announce that I will be moving my lampwork studio into the house! Presently, it's in the garage. But no matter how my family tries, it seems that other things get put in my area.

Picture a perfect torching day. Everything is going right. (Hey, that doesn't always happen. I have times when I've got the whole day to torch, and NOTHING turns out right.) But back to the great day......imagine melting glass, hot fire, and silver glass.......aaahhh, what a fantastic day. Music is playing in the background. I'm singing- because no one else can hear.

Then suddenly, while my right hand is holding a rod of hot glass, and my left hand is slowly turning the mandrel in the flame with an awesome bead on it.............disaster hits in the the form of a cat named King. King is no ordinary cat. He thinks nothing is more fun than to bother me while I torch. He has chosen his moment, and is now hanging from my left arm by his claws. Did I mention that I had a short sleeve shirt on? Or that I'm allergic to cats?? What can a girl do? Of course, being a beadmaker, I must finish my bead. So the heavy, dander filled cat is hanging from my skin until I can finish that perfect bead, and remove him. OUCH! That in a nutshell is one big reason that I'm so excited to have my own room!!!
